The Afrodyssey Orchestra band was formed in Athens in March, 2013. Their repertory is influenced by the traditional dance percussion music of Western Africa, jazz, funk, psychedelia and the greek musical tradition.
The Afrodyssey Orchestra compose/create the largest part of their music using instruments unknown to the general public, such as Kamelen Ngoni, a kind of african harp, and the Balafon, the african ancestor of Malimba and Vibraphone. Their repertory, however, also includes original adaptations of known pieces from the african continent from Burkina Fasso to Ethiopia, while it also incorporates elements from the greek musical tradition.
Their international record includes concerts in Berlin in February 2014, at the well-known jazz club 'Tempo Club', Madrid, in 2015, at the international world music festival 'MUD' in Lleida (Spain) and at the SLAP indoor festival in Saragossa (Spain).

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) aspires to become a high standard, urban, multifunctional complex for education, the arts and entertainment. Designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW), the project consists of the construction and complete outfitting of the new facilities of the National Library of Greece (NLG) and the Greek National Opera (GNO), as well as the creation of the 210,000 m2 Stavros Niarchos Park. The SNFCC is entirely funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation with an exclusive grant of $854 million (€617 million). The project will be handed over to the Greek State which will assume its full operation and management.
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation will hand over the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center to the Greek State in early 2017. During the transition phase, the Foundation continues its mission to introduce the project to the public through a daily and dynamic program of free public events that, offers visitors an opportunity to experience SNFCC’s programmatic potential, and its place as an urban destination for everyone. All the events are made possible through the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, which is presently in charge of the project, until the completion of the delivery process to the Greek State. Through these programs that, combine athletic, educational and artistic activities, the Foundation seeks to engage the public in an open dialogue about the SNFCC and to build substantive relationships that will continue during its official operation by the Greek State, the rightful owner of the project.
The SNFCC offers free WiFi service.
To ensure optimal participation, places will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.
The entrances available for visitors are:
Evripidou & Doiranis (entrance for the Visitors Center) Evripidou & Irakleos
Evripidou & Dimosthenous (entrance for the Running Track) Pisistratou& Sachtouri (entrance to the Parking)
For easier access to and from the SNFCC, free transport is available by shuttle bus. The service operates for all events, except the daily guided tours. A mini bus bearing the SNFCC logo, leaves from the Syngrou-Fix Metro station (departure from Kalirrois st.) and arrives at the South side of the SNFCC Canal (near the GNO building) and the converse. It runs 30' prior to the commencement and 30' after the conclusion of every event. Moreover, every Friday from 17.00 to midnight and every Saturday and Sunday from 6.00 to midnight, the shuttle bus will run every 30', exactly on the half hour, from the Syngrou-Fix Metro station to the South side of the Canal and conversely.
